39,000 ft.

A sensory website that positions the viewer in the in-between space of the airplane, 39,000 ft. exemplifes the concept of liminal spaces in transition. Beginning with the infamous “ding” to the safetey rules, the sound pieces are activated as the user hovers over the windows. The shift between languages creates an environment of ambiguity and disconnection, as the website operates in a loop, unable to place them in a particular place. By limiting the user to only one feature, hover, the site transforms the non-space of the Internet, into the liminal space of the familiar.
